Utah Tech Trail Guides serve as a resource, facilitator, and model for incoming Utah Tech students and their families at Trailblazer Orientation during the summer. Serving as a Trail Guide Orientation Leader provides current students the opportunity to gain hands-on leadership skills like event and group management, customer service, public speaking, and teamwork. New Student & Family Programs is looking for students who are positive, driven, authentic, and passionate about Utah Tech. Trail Guides will receive an hourly wage of $15.50 per hour.

There are two types of positions available. If you are wanting to work with incoming students during orientation, please apply for the Student Trail Guide Position. If you are wanting to work with families during orientation, please apply for the Family Trail Guide Position. You may apply for one or both positions. Applying for both does not prioritize your application.

Student Trail Guides will work with incoming students starting at Utah Tech in summer or fall 2026. The Trail Guide Team works together through training and through the summer, but Student Trail Guides have a unique experience by:

  • Facilitating small group presentations of around 20 students
  • Sharing Utah Tech history and traditions on campus tours
  • Represent student life and your college experience to students
  • Assist students in group registration to finalize their class schedules

Family Guides work with the families of incoming students starting at Utah Tech in summer or fall 2026. The Trail Guide Team works together through training and through the summer, but Family Trail Guides have a unique experience by:

  • Leading large group presentations to around 150 family members
  • Representing the student experience on the Family Panel
  • Engaging one-on-one with family members
  • Facilitating other family programs beyond orientation
